Ghylian Bell is the Founder and Director of The Urban Yoga Foundation. She has a unique vision to provide culturally competent programs that specifically target the needs of all students. For 20 plus years, with Gylian's leadership, UYF has provided communities with the tools, language, yoga, breathing and mindfulness techniques to incorporate this sacred practice in their everyday lives. UYF also provides a vigorous and competitive teacher training program. Creating a curriculum that supports unity, sustainable health practices, personal growth, character development, and creative self-expression.
Her alliances have assisted with providing outreach programs throughout New York and New Jersey, including The New York Board of Education as well as various corporate and private institutions. Through these collaborations Ms. Bell's organization has reached almost 500,000 individuals and developed partnerships with various organizations.
“My work is through education and healing trauma. I work to reclaim these indigenous practices and part of my teaching comes from my story. The importance of remembering the story of who we are is how we tap into the energy within. I learn, I teach, I share and hope to activate that seed of consciousness in the work I do for others.”
Ghylian is a community activist, corporate wellness facilitator, international mindfulness educator, keynote speaker and celebrity wellness coach. Private clientele include actress Cicely Tyson, Grammy Award winning musician James Mtume, America Jazz Drummer Tootie Heath, Film Executive Alana Mayo, Former Radio Executive Barry Mayo, Film Director/Producer Tasha and Sidra Smith as well as many others have shared her practice.
